"Abby vs. Kira" is the twenty-fifth episode of the fifth season of Dance Moms. It first aired on June 30, 2015.


The moms push Abby for more dance classes after losing two competitions in a row. When Abby refuses to take responsibility for the girls' lack of training, Kira takes matters into her own hands and brings in outside help, which infuriates Abby. After Maddie's second place finish to Mackenzie, Abby pressures Maddie to regain her standing as the ALDC's top dancer.

  • Tessandra Chavez was the outside help was the outside help that was brought in by Kira. Among other work, Tessandra was supervising choreographer for the second season of Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. In this episode, Tessandra arrives and finds that Abby is unwilling to give her blessing to using her as an instructor, and Tessandra opts to leave rather than teaching the team without Abby's approval.
  • At the end of Season 5 filming, Kendall said "Burn" was one of her favorite solos, and that it was choreographed by one of Abby's former students.[3]
  • Paige Landseadal of Dolce Dance Studio was first overall with her solo "Dream."[4][5] (Video link to Paige performing "Dream" at Revolution). Second was Basia Rhoden of DollHouse Dance Studio, with "Dreamcatcher";[6][7] later in 2015 at Showstoppers West Coast Nationals, Basia performed the same routine, and tied for third (with Talia Seitel and two others) in the teen division.   • Abby got into a fight with Kira (and other moms?) early at the competition. This is probably what Abby refers to in an Entertainment Tonight interview, saying a producer threw her out, with about another (soon to follow?) episode where she wasn't there for the show.
  • Dolce Dance Studio placed first ("All By Myself") and second ("4.0") in the age 12-14 small group category, ahead of the ALDC in 3rd.[9][10][11][12] A short video clip of "All By Myself" from Believe has been posted online.
  • Mackenzie on the filming set of television show Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn through the week.
