Chloe Smith was formerly a guest dancer for Candy Apple's Dance Center. In Season 5, she became a guest dancer at Jeanette's studio and remained there until her final appearance on the show.
On Dance Moms[]
- In The Beginning of the End, she makes the top ten finalists at open call auditions, when Abby is looking for additional dancers for her team. (Among other finalists were Jade Cloud and Kaeli Ware; the top two were Ava Cota and Ally Serigne, with Ally making the team.)
- In Wild Wild West Coast, Part 1, she made an appearance on the bonus scene of the L.A. auditions.
- In Abby's Trash, Cathy's Treasure, she joined the CADC's new team and performed in the group dance "Ethereal" which placed 3rd overall.
- In Mackenzie's Time to Shine, she is in the group dance Stand Up, which places 1st and decisively beats the ALDC. In a dressing room fight afterwards, Abby criticizes Chloe's physical appearance (see more below.)
Other information[]
- Chloe had performed "Screaming Silence" with ALDC seniors and other guests, at events such as Nuvo around the time of Big Trouble in the Big Apple; and at the Fierce competition filmed for Wingman Down. (These dances were not part of Dance Moms broadcasts.)
- In July 2014, Chloe' became one of that season's two winners for the ALDC Dance Off, Abby's annual online dance contest.[4][5] (Chloe' won in 13-and-over, while Brynn Rumfallo won in 12-and-under.)
- She attended ALDC Booty Camp in 2013 and 2014, the second time with a scholarship from winning ALDC Dance Off.
- Her mom usually types her name with a trailing apostrophe (" Chloe' "); but has also used a diacritical mark (" Chloé "),[6] and as simply " Chloe ".[7]
- At the end of Season 5, Chloe and Tessa both said that they had been (and still were) close to Abby, and that Cathy didn't know who they were until the day before they started filming together.[8]
- Her mother Liza choreographs for her home studio.
- She guesses age and height were two of the reasons "they" never selected her for the show until Season 5.[9]
- Chloe placed first at the Sheer Talent competition filmed for 99 Problems but a Mom Ain't One, dancing for her home studio, with Kalani second. James Washington had choreographed her solo.[10][11][12] Chloe' has also said that her excitement at finishing above Kalani (whom she has said she admires and considers her role model as a dancer) was misconstrued by certain people as arrogance or intentional rudeness. (Although Chloe' avoided mentioning her by name, a message from Abby on a soon-to-be-deleted Instagram post criticized Chloe' for this, the day after her first performance with Candy Apple's; with Abby also seeming to fault Chloe' for ingratitude and disloyalty by supporting Cathy in the same message.[13] There had not seemed to be angry posts by others on Chloe's Instagram posts on this subject, prior to their deletion. Chloe' later spoke to Kalani about the affair, and the two dancers posed hugging.)[14][15] Chloe' continued to use the solo choreographed by James later in the year, placing 1st at an Imagine regionals in Buffalo.[16]
- During their trip to L.A. auditions, Chloe and Liza were caught in the "Snowvember" storm,[17] with six feet of snow falling in 24 hours in parts of Buffalo, NY.[18]
- She started dancing at nine months old.[19]
- Her brothers Shane, Nathan and Connor are triplets.[20]
- She has switched to homeschooling for the show.[21]
- She has said she was bullied when she was younger, with teasing for having large ears.[22] (In yet-to-be-aired footage, Abby had previously told Liza to get her daughter's ears fixed while in Chloe's presence; once in Los Angeles during auditions, which Chloe' passed to the end; and again during hostile arguments, in the filming of Mackenzie's Time to Shine.)
- Like Ashtin Roth and Tessa Wilkinson, Chloe' and her mom attended the grand opening of ALDC L.A. near the end of filming for Season 5, at the invitation of Abby. Despite their problems earlier, she also said at the end of the Season 5 that she and Abby are close.[23]
- In an interview at the opening of ALDC LA, Liza and Chloe' said that Abby's comments about Chloe's ears had been upsetting at first, but was eventually a positive in all the support she received from fans.
- After Dance Moms won at the Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Reality Show in March 2015, she addressed a congratulations message to Abby and the ALDC team on Instagram (as did Haley Huelsman and Ashtin Roth).[24]
- At a late March 2015 Believe Regionals in Niagara Falls while competing for her home studio, Chloe' placed first above a handful of dancers from Krystie's Dance Academy (among them Justice.)[25]
- Like the rest of her team on the show, she is sponsored by Activated Industry Performance Wear.
