Sophia Maria Lucia is a 12-year-old dancer, born on September 7th, 2002.

Sophia has appeared on a number of television shows besides Dance Moms, including: Dancing with the Stars,[7] America's Got Talent, Shake It Up, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Home & Family,[8] Kirby Buckets, [9] and So You Think You Can Dance: Ukraine. She was featured in Fox Legacy's Shirley Temple. She has appeared in commercials for McDonald's, Old Navy and Party City. Sophia has also modeled for Discount Dance Supply and works with California Kisses in releasing her own dancewear line.[3][10]

On March 30th, 2013, Sophia was filmed performing fifty-five consecutive pirouettes, and presented with a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records in surpassing the previous mark of thirty-six (her old unofficial record was fifty-four).[11]

In Dance Moms

  • Sophia first appeared in Out With the Old, In With the New, the second episode of Season 3. When the Moms went on strike, Abby invited Sophia to be part of her team of replacement dancers. During the episode, Abby criticized her high-pitched voice, and suggested she take voice lessons at the studio. Her solo "New Reality" took first place at the competition, the title about Abby's "new reality" of replacing Maddie as a dancer.
  • When the Season 2 cast returned in But I'm a National Champion!, Sophia remained on Abby's squad. During the episode, Abby snubbed Maddie by interrupting her training to work with Sophia, and told Chloe that her solo was about living under the shadow of more renowned dancers (first Maddie, then Sophia.) Sophia claimed that she sometimes trains younger dancers in California, and is really mean to them; Abby congratulated her, saying that mean was good. The other Moms also argued with her mother Jackie about Sophia's home-schooling. Sophia's solo again took first place.
  • In the episode Liar Liar Dance Mom on Fire!, Sophia is said to be away shooting a movie, but fails to arrive at the competition as expected. Like the previous episode, Sophia had been placed at the top of the pyramid.
  • In Rotten to the Core she returned to the Abby Lee Dance Company. During that week, she was set to perform in the group number "Avalanche" and was also set to compete a solo at the competition. Abby made it clear that if Sophia was to compete a solo, then she was going to pull either Maddie or Kendall's solos from the competition. Seemingly eager to avoid being caught in the middle of such controversy, Sophia and her mom Jacqueline returned to Los Angeles.
